La Gondola

La Gondola, Åre

Norling Studio was given the great and honorable task of developing a tableware concept and a tailor-made pattern for La Gondola in Åre.

The team behind this awesome restaurant knew exactly what vibe they were after and needed someone to bring their idea to life.

After various briefing meetings, we spent hours and hours sketching, both by hand and digitally. Finally, some different directions were presented to La Gondola before the final Nordic floral print could be nailed down and taken forward.

Bowls and plates in the ideal sizes for La Gondola were carefully picked out and the flower pattern was then applied and adapted to the different conditions. We chose to make the crockery in porcelain, partly for the sake of the feel, but also because the durability of the products was important - these would be used very frequently and over a long period of time and needed to withstand the stress that a restaurant kitchen of this type entails .

The floral pattern with elements of attitude roosters has become an important part of La Gondola's branding and contributes to high recognition (you've probably seen it on Instagram) and the logo is tastefully integrated on the bread plate to reinforce branding. The restaurant offers both à la carte and "tray lunch" hence, two concepts were developed - a simpler one and a more elaborate one, of course with the same feel and with common components for full cohesion. The color choices in the pattern are carefully balanced and are repeated in other parts of the interior and aesthetics of the restaurant.

Located at an altitude of 834 meters and with an outstanding view, breakfast, lunch and á la carte are served. The food is great, the service is on point and personal and the vibe is real. A must if you are in Åre!
