FAQ
What makes stoneware special?
Stoneware is a type of ceramic fired at very high temperatures, creating a strong and durable material designed for everyday use.
Our stoneware is dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer safe, making it as practical as it is beautiful. The material also works beautifully with reactive and decorative glazes, creating depth, character and subtle variations from piece to piece.
Where are Norling Studio products made?
We work with carefully selected manufacturers in Portugal and Turkey, chosen for their craftsmanship, quality and expertise.
All of our stoneware and porcelain is made in Portugal, while our Just Glass collection is produced in Turkey.
We work closely with our production partners to ensure every piece meets Norling Studio’s standards for quality, function and design.
How should I care for my Norling Studio products?
Our products are made to be used and enjoyed every day, and all pieces are dishwasher safe.
Some semi-matte glazes can be sensitive to strong pigments if left in contact with the surface for a prolonged period. Foods such as blueberries, beetroot or strongly coloured sauces are perfectly fine to serve, but we recommend rinsing or washing the piece after use rather than leaving food in it overnight.
Light and matte glazes may occasionally develop grey or dark marks from stainless-steel cutlery. These marks are usually caused by metal residue rather than scratches in the glaze and can often be removed gently with white toothpaste and a soft cloth.
Are all Norling Studio products dishwasher safe?
Yes. All Norling Studio products are dishwasher safe.
Our stoneware and porcelain collections are also oven, microwave and freezer safe, making them suitable for both everyday use and entertaining.
Why can colours and finishes vary between pieces?
Part of the beauty of our collections lies in their natural variation.
Many of our pieces are finished by hand, including hand-painted and hand-dipped glazes. Because glazes react differently depending on the shape of the piece and how they behave during firing, subtle variations in colour, texture and finish may occur.
We see these differences as part of the character of the product — and what makes each piece feel unique.
What do you mean by “restaurant quality”?
Restaurant tableware has to withstand considerably more use than most tableware at home — from frequent dishwasher cycles and daily handling to repeated heating and cooling.
Our stoneware is fired at high temperatures to create strong, durable pieces designed to withstand intensive use. The collections are dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer safe, making them equally suited to professional restaurant environments and everyday life at home.
For us, restaurant quality means combining durability, functionality and design without compromise.
Do you work with both restaurants and private customers?
Yes.
Our online store is open to private customers, where you can shop many of the same collections used by restaurants, hotels and hospitality spaces.
We also work extensively with the hospitality industry and offer a dedicated B2B assortment, alongside the possibility of developing bespoke tableware in custom colours, shapes and sizes.
For B2B enquiries, please contact info@norlingstudio.com.
Where can I experience Norling Studio tableware?
